Cisco Meraki CW9176D1 Cloud-Managed Wi-Fi 7 Access Point (Tri-Band): frequently asked questions

What PoE does the CW9176D1 need?

For full Wi-Fi 7 performance it needs 802.3bt Class 5 power (39 W). On an 802.3at (30 W) port it runs in a reduced mode: the 2.4 GHz radio drops to 2×2, the uplink negotiates 2.5G and the USB port is off. On 802.3af the radios stay off.

Is the CW9176D1 an indoor or outdoor access point?

Indoor only. For outdoor coverage use an outdoor-rated Meraki access point.

Can I manage it with Meraki dashboard or Catalyst?

Either. The CW9176D1 is a single product ID that can run in Cisco Meraki cloud-managed mode or be managed by a Catalyst 9800 wireless controller / Catalyst Center.

What is the difference between the CW9176D1 and the CW9176I?

The D1 has an internal directional antenna (about 70–80° beamwidth) for wall mounting and aiming coverage at a specific area; the CW9176I has an omnidirectional antenna for ceiling mounting.

What uplink speed does it support?

One 10G multigigabit port (100M/1G/2.5G/5G/10G). The full 10G link is available when the AP is powered by 802.3bt.

Does the CW9176D1 require a license?

Yes. A Cisco or Meraki access point license (Essentials or Advantage) is required. Request a quote and we will include the license term you need.
